POSITION: Production Assistant – Part Time.
PROJECT: “The Killing Fields of Dr. Haing S. Ngor” chronicles the story of Dr. Haing S. Ngor, a first-time actor in The Killing Fields who drew upon his captivity in Khmer Rouge labor camps to create an Oscar-winning performance, and his quest to bring worldwide attention to the devastation of Cambodia under the Pol Pot regime. Funding provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities, CAL Humanities, and the Center for Cultural Innovation. Project sponsored by The Dr. Haing S. Ngor Foundation.
DUTIES: Create data base and log archival and other footage. Other assignments as necessary, including scanning and logging archival material and research.
Proficient and experience with Mac, Final Cut Pro, and Excel.
Bilingual English and Khmer required.
Knowledge of Cambodian history and culture required in order to accurately log archival footage of Cambodia from the 1960s to 1990s.
Additional bilingual abilities in Vietnamese preferred, but not required, to log some archival footage with Vietnamese dialogue and writing.
Research experience and abilities preferred.
HOURS: Part time and temporary until logging is completed; approximately one to two months. 20-25 hours per week. 8:30-2pm, Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri. Office is in the Los Angeles Silverlake area; street parking. NOTE: Upon mutual agreement, the job may continue beyond the intitial period pending project needs and funding.
PAY: $17 per hour
START DATE: Immediately, upon mutual agreement.
